Italian restaurant Nonna Silvia’s features heart shaped ravioli & pizza for its tenth year!

Park Ridge, IL –February 5th, 2011 Nonna Silvia’s is celebrating 10 years of serving Park Ridge and its surrounding neighborhoods. The restaurant is named after the owners’ grandmother Silvia Giannini. In Italy, grandmothers have been known to be the best chefs, Silvia being from the region of Abruzzi, brought over her recipes to share with her children and grand children. Over the years chefs/owners Steve Marti and John Giannini have had the pleasure of making heart shaped pizzas and handmade heart shaped lobster ravioli for the Valentine’s Day season. “It was requested ten years ago by one of our first customers and has been a hit ever since.” The popularity of these romantically inspired dishes has grown throughout the years. We offer these pizzas and pasta for carry out and delivery, as well as dine in. While dining in at Nonna Silvia’s on any given night you are likely to see a friend, a neighbor, or even a relative. This cozy little place offers traditional Italian dishes with a modern flare, while still keeping true to their family roots. “We would love to share this with your viewers/readers. We welcome you to come by and try us out.”

Italian restaurant Nonna Silvia’s to host authentic food and wine tasting

Park Ridge, IL –January 6, 2011 - Nonna Silvia’s, a fine Italian restaurant in Park Ridge, IL, will be hosting its food and wine tasting event, “A Sipping Splendor,” featuring dishes created by chefs Steve Marti and John Giannini and expert wine tour guide, Stefano Poggi.

Poggi will be flying in directly from Italy, to educate and enlighten guests on food and wine traditions of the Barolo region of Piedmonte.

All menu items will be paired with the finest wines from Batasiolo Wine Producers. The cost of the tasting includes four courses, perfectly matched to a complementing wine.

The First course consists of Tartara di Tonno, paired with a Batasiolo Gavi wine. Guest Chef Giuseppe’s Wild Mushroom Risotto, with a glass of Batasiolo Barbera D’Alba, will follow the tartar. A palate cleansing, fresh sorbet will be served as the third course, followed by Ossobucco, a veal shank, slowly braised with vegetable, herbs and red wine. This course will include a taste of the “King of Italian Red Wines,” Batasiolo Barolo. Lastly, guests will enjoy a Hazelnut Torte, straight from the renowned Bittersweet Bakers, complemented by a glass of Batasiolo Moscato.

The event will take place at the restaurant, located at 1400 S. Canfield. The tasting and a raffle drawing will commence at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 and also on Wednesday, January 26, 2011. The fee per guest is only $49.95 plus tax and gratuity. Cancellation notice must be given within 48 hours of the event.
